Meet Our Educators

I have a lengthy and somewhat unorthodox educational background that culminated in me completing an Associate of Science in Marine Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Environmental Studies within the the past six years. Due to these educational pursuits, I was able to gain a wide range of curricular exposure, and I combined that with my enjoyment of teaching into tutoring. Although math is my favorite subject to teach, I also enjoy tutoring in physics, chemistry, biology, english, reading, and of course, music.

I have a combination of tutoring experience ranging from college peer tutoring to professional tutoring. As a college student, I worked in the math support center and assisted fellow students in various subjects. I found so much enjoyment in assisting my fellow students that in between semesters, I privately tutored high school math, science, and music for family members and friends. Shortly after finishing my bachelor’s degree, I became a professional tutor for The Study Hall in Scarborough, Maine. During my time there, I gained experience tutoring various subjects in math and science, gaining an opportunity to work with high school students with diverse backgrounds and learning profiles. One of the most high-demand services provided by The Study Hall was preparing students for standardized college admissions exams. As a result, I gained a significant amount of experience in coaching students through preparing for the SATs. Alongside my tutoring ventures as the founder of Kennebec Tutoring, I also work as a professional tutor for Revolution Prep, a virtual college test prep and tutoring organization that serves students of every age across the United States. In addition to these tutoring experiences, I am a musician with a bachelor’s degree in music theory and performance and 14 years of experience as a guitar player.

Whether a middle school, high school, or college student needs help in their class, or a student wants assistance preparing for the SATs and achieving their college admission ambitions, or even if an aspiring musician is interested in learning to play guitar or wants to learn music theory, the varying services we can provide can help a student achieve their academic goals and/or find enjoyment in an intellectual pursuit.

Master’s of Science in Applied and Computational Mathematics

When I was a student, my favorite teachers were the ones who were kind, patient, and took the time to meet me at my level. Now that I have become an educator, I strive to create an environment where students feel no judgment and can get the most out of their experience. With a bachelor’s in physics & music and a master’s in applied & computational mathematics, along with my extensive experience in informal education, I am a strong tutor for subjects including music theory, algebra, calculus, introductory physics, and many more. I believe my content knowledge, paired with my approach of patience and understanding, makes the difference between a good learning experience and a great one.

My teaching journey began in high school when I volunteered as a teacher’s assistant at a science summer camp. I spent my time there helping with the set up and demonstration of science activities, and supporting the students and other staff where I could. After graduating high school, I pursued a college education in physics and music at Eckerd College. At Eckerd, I was chosen to be a physics tutor for the school’s peer tutoring program and fell in love with helping students achieve their goals in their math and physics courses. Additionally, I developed as a musician, playing saxophone for jazz and concert band. From there, I moved to Seattle to pursue a master's in applied & computational mathematics at the University of Washington. In Seattle, I gained more experience in informal education by working as a lead educator at the Pacific Science Center’s summer camp for elementary & middle school learners. Now that I’ve finished my Master’s, I’m looking to continue growing with Kennebec Tutoring and helping even more students achieve their goals.

From music theory to math, and from saxophone technique to physics, I can help students find success. Learning any subject can be difficult, but with the right approach and guidance, nothing is out of reach!
